Claire qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1998, and in 2003, she graduated from University College London with a Masters degree (MSc) in Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy.

In addition, Claire has undertaken specialised post-graduate training to pass the stringent examinations of the MACP - the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.

Having realised a long-held ambition to open her own business in 2006, Claire has until July 2018 been treating patients full-time at Apex. Claire has built around her a fantastic team of trusted Physiotherapy and Administration colleagues, and now enjoys her role as Practice Manager at Apex.

Claire no longer undertakes daily clinical work, however she is very much involved with the everyday decision-making and service development at the Clinic.

Helen Walton MSc MCSP MHCPC MMACP

Senior Associate / Chartered Physiotherapist

Helen has over 20 years experience as a senior physiotherapist, working in a broad range of clinics and hospitals both private and NHS in the UK and abroad. She graduated from University College London in 1997 with a B.Sc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. She subsequently earned an M.Sc in Advanced Neuro-musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in 2005, and published her M.Sc research in 2010.

She has worked at a number of large specialised teaching hospitals and developed a special interest in upper limb disorders, peripheral nerve injuries and benign joint hypermobility syndrome. In 2010, Helen moved to USA and undertook the national physical therapy exams and gained her American license to practise. She worked in a sports medicine and physical therapy clinic attached to one of the main hospitals in the Midwest.

In 2013 she returned to the UK and started working at Apex physiotherapy.

Louise Broda MSc MCSP MHCPC

Louise completed her BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and qualified from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, in 2001.

She has a broad range of experience in private and NHS settings; as well as working for the last 8 years in the MoD, treating injured service personnel. She has always had a keen interest in Sports injuries; post-op rehab and chronic pain. In addition to this she has developed specialist experience in exercise rehab over the last 8 years.

Her passion for deepening her understanding of the mind-body connection has seen her undertake several post-graduate courses including NLP Practitioner for Sport in 2007; an MSc in Sport Psychology in 2009 and completing a SIRPA (Stress Illness Recovery Practitioners’ Association) training course in 2012.

She has also written a book on Compassion Fatigue, believing that in order for professionals to be at their best and offer the best care to patients, they also need to look after themselves.

Matt Whitson Bsc MSc MCSP HCPC

Having graduated from Swansea University in 2012 with a BSc (Hons) in Sports and Exercise Science, Matt worked in the NHS as a Physiotherapy Assistant prior to completing a Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy at Teeside University.

Following his graduation, Matt has experienced working for private companies in the London area helping large corporate companies to reduce their staff sickness. At the beginning of 2017, Matt became The Head of Medical and Sports Science at Stevenage FC Academy. In this role, Matt combined his Sports Science knowledge with his physiotherapy experience to develop young footballers of the future. This was a successful period for him and he soon progressed on to his present role with QPR Football Club as their U23 physiotherapist.

Matt holds memberships with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists, Physiotherapists in Sport and the Football Medical Association. He has additional qualifications in: Sports Massage, Strength and Conditioning and Advanced Trauma Medical Management.

Catherine (Katie) Monnington BSc (Hons) MCSP HCPC

Having graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Physiotherapy, Katie gained a wide variety of experience in a large teaching hospital in Birmingham for several years before relocating to the Chilterns.

Katie then worked in a large London teaching hospital, gaining experience in musculoskeletal conditions and is now based part-time at Stanmore Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. In this role Katie has been instrumental in a recent clinic trial for Hip Impingement syndrome and the setting up of a specialist Hip clinic.

Katie is an Honorary Clinic teaching fellow at University College, London; lecturing as part of their MSc Physiotherapy programme. Katie has combined her NHS work with treating patients in the Private sector and has also worked with athletes for the All England Netball Association.

In September 2018, Katie was invited to attend the International Society of Hip Arthroscopy Annual Scientific Meeting in Melbourne, Australia. This unique learning opportunity ensures Katie is implementing the most up-to-date assessment & treatment techniques with her hip patients.

Lauren McCullagh BSc (Hons) MCSP HCPC

Having graduated from the University of West of England in Bristol in 2004 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy, Lauren worked in Watford General Hospital for three years rotating through the specialities of acute, community and intermediate care.

Lauren then moved in to the private sector as a Specialist Musculoskeletal physiotherapist working in the London area. In 2008 Lauren set up her own private practice in a gym-based environment.

Following increasing family commitments, Lauren decided to sell her practice in 2016 and has joined Apex on a part-time basis. Lauren has additional qualifications in Acupuncture, Sports Massage and Osteopathic Techniques including Manipulation. Lauren is a qualified APPI Pilates Instructor for Levels 1 & 2.

Samantha Vincent BSc MCSP MHCPC

Associate / Musculoskeletal and Womens Health Specialist

Since the age of 7, Sam knew she wanted to be a Physiotherapist! She followed her dream, and graduated from Brunel University in 2013 with a BSc in Physiotherapy.

After graduating Sam completed her junior rotations at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust before specialising in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. Sam discovered a passion for Women’s Health, and undertook postgraduate training to equip her with the necessary specialist assessment and treatment skills for this role.

Sam is the NHS Team Lead Women’s Health Physiotherapist at St Mary’s hospital in Paddington. Sam works with a diverse population of female patients with obstetric and gynaecology conditions; including pregnancy-related low back and pelvic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, stress and urge urinary incontinence, prolapse, overactive bladder syndrome, sexual dysfunction and constipation and defecation syndrome. Sam also runs the Obstetric and Sphincter Injury Clinic (OASIS) for 3rd and 4th degree tears alongside the Urogynaecology Consultants.

Sam is trained in Pilates (APPI Matwork Levels 1 & 2) and is running evening Pilates classes at the Community Centre, with a particular focus on Ante/Post-natal Pilates. Sam moved into Chalfont st Peter in 2018, and we are thrilled she has joined our team at Apex.
